Men's Tennis Wins Third Straight

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team secured their third straight United East conference match against Penn State Berks on Saturday afternoon, April 6. 

 

The Lions (8-5, 3-0 UE) went 3-for-3 in doubles competition, which started with Cooper Wheeler and Damir Cuturic cruising to an 8-2 victory over Penn State Berks' Muhammad Esmat and Jazae Mania Itegi in the No. 1 contest. Owen Ou and Derwin Merca claimed an 8-2 win over Donovan Sullivan and Weston Weaver in the second outing, while Andrew Schreck and Vik Patel rolled to an 8-1 decision over the No. 3 pair of Jake Dougherty and Alan Ngo. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg continued to impress in singles action, beginning with Wheeler topping Esmat 6-3, 6-4 in the top matchup. Cuturic went over Mania Itegi 6-3, 6-4 in the No. 2 contest, while Ou earned a 6-1, 6-2 win against Sullivan in the No. 3 outing. Schreck rolled to a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Weaver in the fourth slot, Merca bested Dougherty 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 5 position, and Patel handled Rajas Joshi in the last singles contest of the afternoon. 

 

The Blue & White look to keep the streak alive as they travel to Penn State Abington on Thursday afternoon, April 11 for a 1 p.m. matchup.
