Men's Tennis Tops Wildcats in Convincing Fashion

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team rolled to a 9-0 sweep over Penn College in a United East conference matchup on Friday afternoon, April 5. 

 

It was all Penn State Harrisburg (7-5, 2-0 United East) in doubles play, with Cooper Wheeler and Damir Cuturic combining for an 8-1 victory over Penn College's Kyle Shuler and Jesse Kight in the No. 1 slot. Owen Ou and Derwin Merca made quick work of Matt Williams and Jaydon Mansbock to the tune of 8-2 in the No. 2 contest, while the third match saw Andrew Schreck and Vik Patel earn an 8-1 victory over Hunter Knosky and Elliot Gitmer. 

 

The early success continued into singles action for the Lions, as Wheeler started things off with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Shuler in the top contest, while Cuturic, Ou, and Patel all secured 6-0, 6-0 sweeps in their respective matches. Schreck topped Williams 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth outing and Merca earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Mansbock in the No. 5 matchup. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg is back in action on Saturday afternoon, April 6, as they travel to Penn State Berks for another conference contest. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
