Merca, Ou Earn United East All-Conference Recognition

LATHAM, N.Y. - A pair of Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis players in Derwin Merca and Owen Ou have earned United East All-Conference recognition, as announced by the conference on Thursday morning. 

 

Merca earned all-conference first-team honors at the No. 4 singles slot, while he and Ou garnered all-conference second-team recognition at the No. 2 doubles position.

 

Merca secured his accolade after going undefeated against United East competition this spring. The sophomore finished 5-0 in singles play against conference opposition and earned eight total victories in solo action this season. 

 

Ou teamed with Merca to win four doubles matches in contests against United East opponents this spring. Together, the pair racked up five total doubles victories this season. 

 

The Lions (8-4, 4-1 United East) begin postseason play at the Hershey Racquet Club on Friday night when they face Lancaster Bible in the semifinal round of the United East Championship Tournament.
