Men's Tennis Tops Penn State Abington For Third Straight Win

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team picked up its third straight victory by defeating United East foe Penn State Abington 6-3 at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Sunday afternoon, April 16.

 

The hometown Lions (6-3, 2-0 United East) took two of three from the visiting Lions in doubles play, with Nick Rohn and Andrew Schreck teaming up to best Andrew Brown and Tim Belotserkovsky 8-6 in the No. 1 outing and Owen Ou and Derwin Merca combining to top Josh Kurek and Neil Guarino 8-4 in the No. 2 contest.

 

Ou and Merca kept their strong play going in singles action, as Ou rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Guarino in the No. 3 matchup and Merca sweeping Belotserkovsky 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4 contest. Rohn worked hard for a 6-0, 4-6, 6-2 match-sealing victory in the No. 5 slot and Evan Stillwell added a win for good measure with a 6-0, 4-6, 6-0 decision in the No. 6 outing.

 

The Lions return to action when they host St. Mary's (Md.) for their final home match of the spring on Tuesday afternoon.
