Men's Tennis Bests Berks In Conference Opener

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team opened the United East portion of its schedule with a 6-3 victory over conference foe Penn State Berks at the Hoverter Tennis Complex on Thursday afternoon, April 13. 

 

The hometown Lions (5-3, 1-0 United East) went 3-for-3 in doubles play, led by a hard-fought 8-7 win by Nick Rohn and Andrew Schreck in the No. 1 matchup. Owen Ou and Derwin Merca secured an 8-3 victory in the second contest and AJ Krasley and Evan Stillwell worked hard to earn an 8-6 win in the No. 3 matchup. 

 

In singles action, Merca came away with a 6-0, 6-2 win in the No. 4 solo outing before Rohn clinched the overall victory for his team with a 6-1, 6-0 decision in the No. 5 matchup. Stillwell added a sixth win for good measure thanks to a back-and-forth 6-3, 1-6, 10-5 victory in the No. 6 contest. 

 

Penn State Harrisburg will continue conference play by hosting United East foe Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon.
