Men's Tennis Handles Spartans

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team secured a 7-2 victory over regional opponent York College (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 24.  

 

In doubles action, Daniel Ellis and Zijun Ou took the No. 1 match 8-5 against the Spartans' Tej Laliwala and Evan Stehman. Andrew Schreck and Nick Rohn put up a fight in the No. 2 matchup, but the duo of Jack Leinbach and Ben Dorey proved to match for the Lions. For the last doubles match of the day, Rishikesh Singh and Evan Stillwell won 8-3 over York's No. 3 pairing.  

 

The Blue & White were victorious in all but one singles match, which started with Ellis in the No. 1 matchup who won 7-6, 6-2. Aaron Krasley defeated No. 2 opponent Leinbach 6-1, 6-3, while Derwin Merca worked hard for a 7-6, 6-2 victory over Stehman in the No. 3 outing. Schreck came away with a 6-2, 6-0 win in the No. 5 matchup and Rohn rounded out the team's singles wins with a 6-3, 4-6, 12-10 decision against Hayden Musser. 

 

The Lions go on the road to play against non-conference foe Messiah on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
