Men's Tennis Wins Fifth In a Row

ABINGTON, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's tennis team won its fifth straight match in impressive fashion after sweeping conference foe Penn State Abington 9-0 to remain undefeated in United East play on Saturday afternoon, April 9.

 

The Blue & White (6-3, 2-0 United East) went 3-for-3 in doubles action, with Caleb Fockens and Sachin Venkatesh earning an 8-3 win in the No. 1 matchup, Nick Rohn and Andrew Schreck rolling to a 8-0 sweep in the second contest, and Rishikesh Singh and Evan Stillwell picking up an 8-2 victory in the No. 3 outing. 

 

It was more of the same in singles play, as Fockens handled Penn State Abington's top player Adrian Condes 6-0, 6-2 in the No. 1 pairing to begin solo action. Venkatesh bested Andrew Brown 6-3, 6-4 in the second contest, Aaron Krasley picked up a 6-2, 6-1 win in the No. 3 matchup, Schreck topped Adam Moskal 6-2, 6-0 in the fourth pairing, Rohn went over Kyle Elliot 6-0, 6-2 in the fifth outing, and Derwin Merca completed the sweep with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Jeevesh Gupta in the No. 6 contest.

 

The Lions will look to extend their recent win streak when they travel south to take on United East foe St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday afternoon, April 12.
