Penn State Harrisburg Tennis Ready for CAC Playoffs

Middletown, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg has been on a tear as of late.  Winners of four straight, including three key conference victories, helped secure the Lions spot in the Capital Athletic Conference playoffs.  After finishing last season with a final record of 6-11 and missing out on the postseason, the Blue and White have been able to turn things around and make a run in the last couple weeks of their 2014-2015 campaign.

Harrisburg defeated rival York College on Tuesday April 14th to secure the four seed in the conference postseason tournament.  The Lions pulled out a hard fought 5-4 victory including two huge doubles wins by top duo Chris Magee (Westminster, Md. / Manchester Valley) and Mitchell Ebersole (Donegal, Pa. / Donegal) and fellow doubles partners James Moore (Lewisburg, Pa / Lewisburg Area) and Pawel Klos (Hamilton, N.J. / Hamilton).  The doubles victories gave the home team a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.  The Blue and White took the first two singles matches with impressive wins by Magee and sophomore Johnny Xue (Blue Hill, Maine / George Stevens Academic) who won in the two spot, 6-2 and 6-2.  The Lions outlasted the visiting Spartans and held on to secure the four seed in postseason play.

The Blue and White will host the rematch against the York Spartans Saturday April 18th starting at 11 a.m.  The winner of the first round playoff match will travel to Mary Washington on April 21st to face off against the Eagles who are the number one seed and currently ranked 19th in the country.
