Player of the Year Named Student-Athlete of the Week

GANSEVOORT, N.Y. – Penn State Harrisburg's Joshua Cartmill (Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) wasn't a part of the men's tennis team's 2012 fall roster.  Well, the reigning North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Men's Tennis Player of the Year is back for the spring and it didn't take him long to make his presence known.  Thanks to his most recent outing, the senior has been named the league's Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Mar. 31.

Cartmill was stout in the Lions' 2013 conference opener and helped lead his squad to a 9-0 sweep of NEAC opponent Cazenovia on Friday, Mar. 29.  He teamed with junior Tyler Miller (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Mechanicsburg), last week's NEAC Student-Athlete of the Week, and took down the Wildcats number one singles team of Alex McCarthy and Greg Ducasse by a convincing 8-2 margin.  Cartmill followed it up with a solo victory in the team's top singles slot; a 6-1, 6-1 decision over McCarthy.

The wins improved Cartmill to 2-2 on the spring.  Penn State Harrisburg is next in action when the Lions host Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Apr. 3.  The match was suspended with the Blue & White leading last week.  Play resumes at 6 p.m.
