MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team erupted for its highest scoring output of the young season in a convincing 4-1 non-conference victory over Wilkes in the squad's home opener on Wednesday night.

Four different players found the back of the net for the Lions (1-1-1), as Daniel Fombu, Jacob Tankersley, James Manns, and Marc Rodgers recorded their first goals of the year. Fombu and Tankersley also recorded assists during the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg scored early and often during Wednesday's home opener and the Lions took advantage of multiple Wilkes fouls in the box by scoring a pair of penalty kicks. Before the PK's came into play, however, Fombu got things started with a strike off a find from Tankersley just seven minutes into the contest.

Fombu returned the favor when he connected with Tankersley who finished off a beautiful feed from point blank range to double the home team's advantage in the 19th minute. Penn State Harrisburg kept the visitors from getting any looks note and held the two-goal lead heading into the break.

The Lions struck again just moments after halftime concluded when the Colonels committed their second foul of the day in the box, allowing James Manns to convert the team's first penalty kick of the fall in the 47th minute.

In the blink of an eye Penn State Harrisburg was at it again following another Wilkes foul in the box in the 51st minute. This time it was Marc Rodgers taking the attempt and finding the back of the net to push the advantage to four with less than 40 minutes remaining.

NOTABLES

- Wednesday's game was the first meeting between the two programs.

- Fombu and Tankersley each finished with three points, as each recorded a goal and an assist.
