LANGHORNE, Pa. - Despite holding advantages in all major statistical categories, Penn State Harrisburg's men's soccer team was forced to settle for a draw with Cairn in a 1-1 stalemate on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 3.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (0-1-1) scored first but was unable to hold the lead in the closing minutes, as newly-minted conference foe Cairn (0-1-1) broke through late and drew even with a timely marker to escape its home field with a tie.

After more than 60 scoreless minutes, the Lions eventually struck first when Jaden Longdon kept possession of a ball and took it from his own side of the field and meandered through four Cairn defenders before firing a pretty attempt from just outside the box into the lower right corner of the net in the 68th minute.

The visitors protected the one-score advantage until a foul call went the Defenders way, setting up a free kick that worked its way through traffic in front of the Penn State Harrisburg net and resulted in the game-tying goal off the foot of Jesse Brittain with less than eight minutes left to play.

The Lions made an aggressive last push in the final six minutes and got off five shots during the span but none found the back of net.

NOTABLES

- Penn State Harrisburg held wide margins in both total shots (19-4) and shots on goal (8-2).

- The Lions finished with nine corner kicks, while Cairn managed four.

- Longdon's marker was the first of his Penn State Harrisburg career.

- Marc Rodgers got off a team-high five shots, with one coming on frame.

- Cairn goalkeeper Xander Jakeway made seven crucial saves on the day.

WHO'S NEXT?
