Men's Soccer Earns Second Consecutive Shutout Victory

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer pulled away in the second half en route to a 4-0 shutout victory over Rosemont at the turf field on Thursday night, Sept. 9.

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg struck first and never looked back in a 4-0 win over Rosemont on Thursday night. Sebastian Krysztofowicz netted the game-winning goal and added an assist, while Jose Palomeque and Daniel Fombu tallied three points apiece.

 

Krysztofowicz got the scoring started in the 29th minute when he finished off a corner kick insertion from Zach Ullum.

 

After the break, Fombu doubled the advantage with his third goal of the fall. The marker came off an assist from Palomeque in the 69th minute. Palomeque got into the scoring act less than 12 minutes later with a strike off a feed from Krysztofowicz to make it 3-0 with nine minutes remaining.

 

Ben Stuckert put an exclamation point on the game's scoring when he found twine in the 87th minute off an assist from Fombu with 2:52 left to play.

 

NOTABLES

- The Lions outshot Rosemont 21-10 overall and 11-3 in shots on goal.

- The Ravens earned four corner kicks but were unable to capitalize with a marker.

- Daniel Fombu's goal was his team-leading third of the young season.

- Sebastian Krysztofowicz and Jose Palomeque each netted their first marker of the fall.

- Ben Stuckert's goal was his second of the campaign.

- Nicholas Guglielmetti made three saves to secure the shutout for Penn State Harrisburg.

- Rosemont goalkeeper Todd Berman made seven stops in net.

- The Blue & White improved to 2-0, while the Ravens fell to 1-2.

 

WHO'S NEXT?

It'll be a rematch of the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament when the Lions host No. 18 Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday night, Sept. 14.
