How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg was edged by Lebanon Valley in a back-and-forth affair on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 1, falling 3-2 in overtime at Nittany Soccer Field in the team's penultimate non-conference outing of the season.

The Lions (7-4) fought back from a one-goal deficit in the final minutes and drew even with the Flying Dutchmen (4-5-1) when Shammah Gahomera netted the equalizer with a pretty strike with little more than five minutes remaining in regulation.

Unfortunately for the Blue & White, LVC's Rob Hanosek converted the game winner less than four minutes into the first overtime period when he gathered a ball through a pair of Penn State Harrisburg defenders, made a move to his right and skirted his attempt into the back of the net.

The Blue & White got on the board first thanks to a Joey Aman marker just after halftime but the visitors answered back when Hanosek scored his first goal of the day in the 55th minute.

Noah Resuta put the Dutchmen out in front for the first time when he corralled a pass from Kazuya Hirano and finished off the run with a score in the 73rd minute. The score remained 2-1 until Gahomera found twine a little more than 10 minutes later.

Inside the Numbers

- The slim defeat ended Penn State Harrisburg's recent five-game win streak.

- LVC finished with a 14-to-12 edge in total shots.

- The Lions, however, won the shots-on-goal battle 6-to-5.

- The Dutchmen tallied four corner kicks. The Blue & White managed a pair.

- Joey Aman kept rolling and recorded his fifth goal in the last six games.

- Shammah Gahomera's tally was his second marker this fall.

- Nicholas Guglielmetti made a pair of saves in goal for the Lions.

- Lebanon Valley goalkeeper Sean Quirk made four stops in earning the win.

The Lions get right back to work when they travel to Gwynedd Mercy for their final non-conference match of the season on Wednesday afternoon.
