Lion's Fall on the Road to Goucher

Lion's Fall on the Road to Goucher

Towson, Md.- After a successful start to the 2016 season, the Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team dropped their second game of the year this evening against non-conference opponent Goucher. Both teams struggled to capitalize offensively until the final seven minutes of play as the home team found the back of the net off of a corner.

The Lion's opened the game on the right foot with their first corner of the night from Victor Weaver before forcing Daniel Hendry to make several quick saves. Within the first twenty minutes of play, Harrisburg recorded four shots on goal as they fought to get on the score board first.
Senior goal keeper Brandon Hoover made several big saves for the Lion's at the start of the second half as the Gophers came out strong. Penn State Harrisburg fought hard in the last twenty minutes of play to grab the lead as Oscar Cartagena and Jonathan Majin each forced Hendry to make a save. In the eighty-third minute of play, the Gophers took the lead off a header by Drew Phillips. The Lion's were unable to find an equalizer in the remaining seven minutes of play. Harrisburg finished the game with a total of 16 shots while Hoover recorded 5 saves.

Penn State Harrisburg will return home on Saturday September 10th where they will host Lebanon Valley. Game time is scheduled for 2 pm.
