First Period Dominance Lifts Lions Over Lancaster Bible

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team continued their strong start to the 2010 seasons with a 4-1 win over the visiting Lancaster Bible College Chargers.

The Lions scored their first home goal of the season just seven minutes into play. Caleb Hoppes (Harrisburg, PA/Middletown) showed off his skills with an impressive header into the goal with an assist from Josh Clinger (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield). Just a few minutes later junior transfer Ian Lake (Mechanicsburg, PA /Cedar Cliff) capitalized on a free kick, scoring the second Lion goal of the game bringing the score to 2-0. The final goal of the first period came from senior Brendan Garner (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) off of a corner kick, giving Clinger is second assist of the game.

The second period of the game opened up 3-0 with the Lions on top. It remained quiet until the 70th minute when all-conference player Danny Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) received a short pass from Justin Henderson (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill) to score the Lions 4th goal. The Chargers lone goal quickly followed with a score from Cory Greiser and assist by Kyle Zook.

The Lions look to remain undefeated as they face Mount Aloysius College at home on Wednesday September 8th at 6pm
