Lions Lose First Home Game of the Season

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - In their final regular season game of the year, the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions dropped a surprising conference game to Penn State Berks, a team that was 3-13-1 going into Saturday's contest. This was Penn State Harrisburg's first loss at home and only their second conference loss of the season.

Just a minute and a half into the game Josh Bitner (Conestoga, PA/Penn Manor) scored his 5th goal of the season on a breakaway giving Harrisburg the early 1-0 lead. Penn State Berk's Tucker Langseth responded with an unassisted goal a few minutes later, tieing up the game. Danny Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) shot Ian Lake (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cedar Cliff) a pass to score the final goal for Harrisburg at the 11th minute. Penn State Berks went on to score four unanswered goals as they won their final conference game of the season 5-2.

Penn State Harrisburg celebrated their fours seniors on Saturday during a pre-game ceremony. Toan Ngo (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), Brennan Stamm (Palmyra, PA/Middltown), Eli Saenz (Akron, PA/Ephrata) and Francis were recognized for their career accomplishments with the Nittany Lion program.

Despite the loss to Penn State Berks, Penn State Harrisburg enters the NEAC tournament as the #2 seed and the Nittany Lions will face the winner of the Keuka College/Penn State Abington match up. SUNY IT will host the semi-finals and championship game on Saturday, November 6th and Sunday November 7th. Penn State Harrisburg will play on Saturday at 2:00 PM.
