Penn State Harrisburg Remains Undefeated In NEAC

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer team put on a show for the crowd on Saturday for their home opening NEAC contest. Visting Keuka College hopped out to a surprising 2-0 lead in the first half. The Storm took advantage of a penalty kick at the 74th minute and gained a 3-0 lead over the Lions. A sense of urgency was felt by the Lions as they struggled to defend their undefeated home record. With just 14 minutes left in regulation play, Eric Rowits (Ephrata, PA/Ephrata) scored a point for the Lions in a scramble in front of the goal.

In an extremely physical game with over 30 fouls and 4 penalty kicks called, Penn State Harrisburg started gaining the upper hand. Josh Clinger (East Petersburg, PA/Hempfield) and Brendan Garner (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) score back to back unassisted goals at the 80th and 84th minute respectively. The Lions were able to hold off scoring by the Storm to send the game to overtime.

The Storm had blown a 3-0 lead and Penn State Harrisburg had momentum. Tommy Miller (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) took the ball on a breakaway and sent it into the net to give the Lions a hard fought win.

Coming off of Saturday's exciting win, the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions looked for their third conference win of the season. The Lions opened up with the same energy they ended Saturday's game with. Wells College held off scoring until the 70th minute where Jonthan Joseph (Miramar, FL/Summerset) put the first one in the net for Penn State.

The Lions continued the pressure. Caleb Hoppes (Harrisburg, PA/Middletown) entered the game and just 25 seconds later added a goal to his stats. Miller took a corner kick and found Hoppes at the post for the 2nd Lion goal of the game. The Express were only able to respond with one goal with just seven minutes left in the 2nd half, giving the Lions their third win in NEAC play and remaining undefeated at home.

Penn State Harrisburg will travel to SUNY IT on October 2 at 2:00 PM to continue NEAC play.
