Lions Win Hard-Fought Battle Against Mustangs

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - After an exciting weekend of NEAC play, the Penn State Harrisburg Nittany Lions took the field for their last non-conference game of the season against Stevenson University Tuesday evening. The Lions looked to defend their 5-0-1 record at home against the Mustangs, a team with a record evenly matched with their own.

Both teams came out strong resulting in a physical game from the start. In a skilled play, Danny Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) beat a Mustang defender and shot a pass to Josh Bitner (Conestoga, PA/Penn Manor) to knock in the first goal of the game. Less than two minutes later Francis notched his own goal after beating a line of defenders on a breakaway. The Lions entered half time up two goals to none.

The physicality of the game continued through the second half. Just under a minute into play, Tommy Miller (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) extended the Lions lead to 3-0 with an unassisted goal. The Mustangs only response came at the 65th minute as Matthew Liska slipped one past Lion goalie Josh Wolff (Christiana, PA/Octorana).

Penn State Harrisburg returns to NEAC play as they travel to Penn State Abington on Saturday, October 23rd at 3:00PM.
