Nittany Lions Advance to NEAC Quarterfinals

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Freshman Dillon Sobilo (Miramer, Fl/Summerset) and junior Danny Francis (Pottstown, PA/Owen J. Roberts) combined for five goals to help power #8 Penn State Harrisburg men´s soccer past #9 Penn State Berks 8-1 in Tuesday´s North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament first round game at the Penn State Harrisburg soccer field.

 

Francis kicked off the Nittany Lion scoring by dishing it to teammate Michael Urich (Lewisberry, PA/Red Land) in the 15th minute for the first goal of the match. Sobilo quickly added his first goal in the 21st minute via Chad Guenthner (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) followed by Francis´ first goal in the 26th minute. Chris Ertle (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was able to find teammate Josh McMahon (Harrisburg, PA/Bishop McDevitt) in the 36th minute to finish out the Nittany Lion first half scoring.

Francis collected his second goal in the 52th minute as well as accumulating his second assist of the game off the header from Nik Light (Jonestown, PA/Northern Lebanon) in the 56th minute.

Sobilo completed his hat-trick with a penalty kick in the 58th minute and an unassisted goal in the 66th minute to give the blue and white the 8-0 lead.

Penn State Berks´ Logan Langseth collected the visiting Lions only goal in the 70th minute.

The Nittany Lions will travel to face #1 Penn State Abington on Thursday for an NEAC Quarterfinal game at Keuka College.
