Lions´ Mull the Bison

September 26th, 2008

MIDDLETOWN, PA - Not only did the Bison of Gallaudet University come to Penn State Harrisburg but wind, clouds and rain arrived as well for the double-header match against our blue and white teams. After a long weekend trip in New York for two grueling North Eastern Athletic Conference matches (NEAC), the Lady Lions looked to bounced back with a victory against the Bison. The blue and white did just that out shooting Gallaudet 47 to 4, not allowing a single shot off in the second half. Adrienne Stine (Northeastern/York, PA)capped the night off with a hat trick giving the Lady Lions the victory over Gallaudet University 4-0.

Coming off a heart breaking lost against Cazenovia on Sunday, the Nittany Lions came out firing at will against the Bison scoring in the 5th minute off of David Little´s (Cumberland Valley/Mechanicsburg, PA) foot assisted by Daniel Guillen (American Community/San Jose, Costa Rica) and Vedran Divkovic (Schiller/Frankfurt, Germany). The blue and white´s swarming offense did not stop there, scoring again before halftime. The Nittany Lions were not satisfied with just a 2-0 lead. The Gallaudet defense held the Lions off for a while but the blue and white were determined to score. In the final 16 minutes the Lions did just that, scoring three goals, two by Josh McMahon (Bishop McDevitt/Harrisburg, PA) and one by Danny Francis (Owen J. Roberts/Pottstown, PA). The Nittany Lions improved to 5-3 on the season and hold the third best record in the conference behind Keuka and Dallas.

The Lady Lions next game will come on October 1st against the Chargers of Lancaster Bible at home starting at 4:00 pm. The Nittany Lions have two tough road games ahead of them coming on September 30th against Kings College and October 7th against conference rivals Penn State Berks.
