October 11th, 2008

Middletown, PA  The Keuka College Storm soccer program traveled from New York to play the men´s and women´s soccer teams of Penn State Harrisburg. The first game featured the surging Lady Lions against the first place Storm. It was defensive game for the blue and white in the first half with Keuka getting off nine of their fourteen shots. Angela Gilmore (Millersburg Area/Millersburg, PA) turned back four shots on goal, leading to the Lady Lions shutting out Keuka in the first half. The second half was a back and forth battle between the two teams. Molly McGuigan of Keuka College broke the tie with her goal in the 59th minute of the game. Lindsey Stauffer (Bishop McDevitt/Harrisburg, PA) answered back with a header in the 66th minute to tie up the ball game. Within the closing seconds of the contest Keuka´s Brenna Leach scored the winning goal off a free kick to give the Storm the victory.

The second contest featured the Penn State Harrisburg men´s team who were coming off a disappointing lost at Penn State Berks on October 7th. The Nittany Lions looked to bounce back against the top team in the conference, the Keuka College Storm. This game turned out to be a physical encounter between the two teams, with 51 fouls and eight Yellow Cards being handed out. The first half of play only had eight combined shots and zero goals in the contest. The second half proved to be a different story with both teams getting off double digit shots. In the end, Penn State Harrisburg was unable to stop Keuka from scoring their three goals by the duo of Brandon Scott in the 64th minute, Carl Learned in the 75th minute and again in the 86th minute.

Losing 0-3 to the Storm sets back the Nittany Lions to 5-6 on the season with their next game coming on Wednesday October 15th against Lancaster Bible College Chargers.
