ALTOONA, Pa. - A hole in one from Josh Africa highlighted Penn State Harrisburg's golf team's effort on day one of the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic hosted by Penn State Altoona at Sinking Valley Country Club on Friday afternoon, Sept. 16.

Africa shot an even-par 72 to secure a three-way tie for the individual lead along with Penn State Altoona's Trey Heffelfinger and Joey Toth. On day when he finished just two strokes off the program's all-time low score, Africa's most impressive feat came when he dunked his tee shot on the ninth hole. As a team, the Lions sit sixth out of 13 squads with a +38 (326) after round one.

Elsewhere, Matthew Redman turned in a strong performance, with his +3 (75) earning him a share of sixth place. Ian Martin carded a +12 (84) to secure a share of 35th overall and Tyler Sullivan's +23 (95) has him sitting tied for 58th after the first round.

The Lions will wrap up the Mountain Valley Collegiate Classic on Saturday afternoon. The day's first tee time is set for 12 p.m.
