Men's Golf Earns Runner-Up Finish at Rutgers-Camden

WILLINGBORO, N.J. – After opening the 2021 campaign last week, Penn State Harrisburg men's golf was back in action on Monday afternoon, April 5. The Lions turned in another solid effort at the Rutgers-Camden Scarlet Raptor Invitational, taking the runner-up spot as a team, while Matthew Redman earned a shared of second place overall.

As a group, the Blue & White tallied a score of 329 (+45) at the Rancocas Golf Club and finished four strokes off the victors from Concordia College.

Redman led the way for Penn State Harrisburg, breaking 80 for the second time in as many outings thanks to his 79 (+8). His effort secured the freshman a share of second place, just four shots off the overall winner.

Fellow freshmen Ian Martin and Tiger Xu were also solid, with Martin's 82 (+11) good enough to earn him a share of fifth place, while Xu's 83 (+12) secured him a top-10 finish in a tie for eighth overall.

Andrew Fink just missed out on cracking the top 10 with an 85 (+14) that was good enough for an 11th-place finish and Josh Swartz tallied an 88 (+17) to finish in the top 15. Joshua Africa rounded out the Blue & White contingency with a 91 (+20).

Concordia College won the invitational with a 325 (+41) and CC's Minwoo Park won the individual trophy thanks to his 75 (+4) on the day.

The Lions will get right back to work when they head to State College to take part in the Penn State Division III Challenge at Toftrees Golf Course on Wednesday morning, April 7.
