MIDDLETOWN, Pa- This past weekend was a big one for Penn State Harrisburg's golf team.  The Lions successfully defended their 2010-2011 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) championship by posting a team score of 650 at the league's two-day championship tournament in Pennsauken, NJ; good enough to clinch their second straight league title and earn their second consecutive NCAA Division III championship tournament berth.  In addition to this accomplishment, four blue and white golfers in Matt Plummer (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), Max Hrip (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley), CJ Foust (Palmyra, PA/Palmyra) and Steve Foell (Pottstown, PA/Boyertown) were named as NEAC all-conference selections.  Plummer also earned Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year honors, while Head Coach Brad Kane was voted the league's Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Plummer has been stout all spring and he continued that trend at the NEAC championships.  The freshman shot a tournament low 73 on Saturday, Apr. 21 and followed it up with a 77 the very next day.  The CV grad's two-day total of 150 clinched the tourney's individual championship and thus earned him both Rookie and Player of the Year honors, as well as a first-team all-conference selection.

Hrip, another Cumberland Valley alum, shot an 82 on day one and followed it up with a final round 83.  His combined score of 165 was good enough for eighth place and earned him a spot on the NEAC's all-conference second-team.

Palmyra's Foust and Boyertown's Foell weren't far behind their teammate.  Foust shot a two-day total of 167 while Foell carded a combined 168, good enough for 11th and 12th place, respectively.  Both scores were good enough to earn the golfers all-conference third-team status.

With four of his golfers earning all-conference recognition, his squad winning back-to-back conference crowns and earning two-straight automatic NCAA tournament bids, it was no surprise that Penn State Harrisburg Head Coach Brad Kane was named NEAC Coach of the Year for the second consecutive season, as voted by his peers.

The Lions will next hit the links next month when they head south for the NCAA tournament taking place May 15-18 in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL near Orlando.
