Plummer Earns NEAC Honors

MIDDLETOWN, Pa- It was announced today that Penn State Harrisburg freshman Matt Plummer (Mechanicsburg, PA/Cumberland Valley) has been named the North Eastern Athletic Conference's (NEAC) Golf Student-Athlete of the Week for the time period ending Sunday, Apr. 15.

The CV grad was the Lions' highest finisher in the blue and white's own two-day spring classic this past weekend.  The Mechanicsburg native used a first round 74 and a 78 on day two to finish eighth out of 55 participants that included golfers from schools the likes of Albright, Muhlenburg, York and Messiah.

Plummer has been one of Penn State Harrisburg's most consistent performers since joining the squad this spring.  The frosh has been the Lions' low man in three of the team's last four tournaments.  He shot an 82 on an extremely windy afternoon at the Swarthmore Invitational on Mar. 26 and a season-best 74 at the Lebanon Valley Invitational on Apr. 2.

Plummer, his teammates and Head Coach Brad Kane are now gearing up for the NEAC championships hosted by league rival Rutgers-Camden on Saturday and Sunday, Apr. 21 and 22.  Penn State Harrisburg will look to defend their 2010-2011 conference championship and earn an NCAA Division III tournament berth for the second straight year.
