Gibbons Earns All-Conference Honors at United East Championships

LANGHORNE, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's men's and women's cross country teams completed their seasons at the 2023 United East Cross Country Championships hosted by Cairn on Saturday, Oct. 28. 

 

Collectively, Penn State Harrisburg's men earned a 10th-place finish, while the women finished 12th. Penn College topped 11 other teams to win the men's championship. St. Mary's (Md.) bested 12 other programs to capture the women's crown. 

 

Sarah Gibbons capped a memorable season for the women with a time of 28.43.9 in the 6K event to finish 12th of 83 total competitors and secure United East All-Conference Second Team honors for her efforts. She is just the fourth runner in program history to earn all-conference recognition of any kind.

 

Elsewhere on the women's side, Alexus Brown and Ashley Elefante finished back-to-back in 72nd and 73rd, respectively, while Sumedha Ramaswamy, Gabrielle Dietrich, and Dominique Taylor completed the team's group of competitors.

 

As he has for much of the season, Jon Carnesi led the way for the men, earning a 22nd-place finish out of 91 total runners thanks to his time of 32:06.8. Angel Patino also secured a top-25 finish, crossed the line in 25th. 

 

The rest of the men's group was comprised of Tyler Price, Nick Spohn, and Mohammed Sakayl.
