READING, Pa. – Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team defeated Penn State Berks in a five-set thriller on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 19. The visiting Lions overcame an early deficit to earn a 23-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-20, 15-5 decision.
Camryn Wettstone led the way offensively with 14 kills, while Charlotte Nguyen and Emily Miller added seven kills apiece. Hannah DeGregory and Mackenzy Miller dominated in the setter position, as they combined for 38 assists on the afternoon. Kate Bukowski had a team-high 18 digs and Julia Choe passed the double-digit dig mark with 10.
In the first set, Penn State Harrisburg (14-6, 5-1 United East) got up by seven before Penn State Berks (5-12, 2-4 United East) went on a five-point run and tied the frame up 20-20 before eventually taking set one 25-23. The visiting Lions quickly turned the tides in their favor in the second and third sets that were both back-and-forth battles from the start.
Penn State Harrisburg left no doubt in the fifth and final set of the afternoon, as they only allowed the hometown Lions to score five points in the frame. Nguyen closed things out with a pair of back-to-back kills that sealed the 3-2 victory for the visiting Lions.
