Volleyball Sweeps Penn College

emmaline stevens celebrates a point against penn college

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team swept United East foe Penn College 3-0 on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 14

HOW IT HAPPENED

The opening set started with a back-and-forth battle between the Lions (8-10, UE 1-1) and the Wildcats (4-13, 0-3 UE), before the home team had 8-0 run near the end of the set. Julia Choe helped fuel the effort, as she served for the eight-point stretch and earned a pair of service aces. Hannah DeGregory sealed the first set with a kill from Katie Richardson to end the beginning set 25-16.

Penn State Harrisburg got up to an early 5-0 lead in the second set, thanks in part to three consecutive kills by Emmaline Stevens. Stevens and Camryn Wettstone were equally impressive on offensive, as they accounted for 11 of the team's 14 total kills in the second set. In the back half of the set, Wettstone was dominate on the attack with five kills through the course of seven Lions' points.

The Blue & White left no doubt in the final set of the afternoon, as they once again held an early lead and didn't trail one time. Penn State Harrisburg was powered by several runs throughout the match that made it difficult for the Wildcats to come back. All three sets of the day ended with the same score of 25-16.
