Volleyball Slowed by Lebanon Valley

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision at the Capital Union Building on Thursday night, Oct. 12. The Lions were unable to hang on in the 21-25, 16-25, 25-23, 18-25 setback. 

 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

The Lions offense came to life in the third set after dropping the first two sets in close fashion, as evidenced by the 15 kills recorded from six different players. The Dutchmen got out to an early lead, but Penn State Harrisburg came back to tie it 14-14. Things remained close down the stretch, but the Lions had answers in crunch time. After trailing 23-22, the home team reeled off the final three points to cut the overall deficit in half. 

 

The momentum continued early in the fourth set and Penn State Harrisburg jumped out to an 18-9 advantage before a crucial timeout by LVC halted a 10-0 run by the Lions. From there, the Dutchmen scored the final 16 points to steal the set and clinch the overall victory. 

 

NOTABLES 

- Camryn Wettstone had a team-high 10 kills on the night. 

- Amoi Willis and Hannah DeGregory both had seven kills apiece. 

- On defense Julia Choe led the team with 16 digs, while Tori Henderson had 13 of her own. 

- DeGregory tallied 27 total assists in the setter position. 

- Henderson added six kills and Carolina Hernandez tallied three. 

- Brianna Ondishin Ribon recored four kills and four service aces. 

 

#ENDALZ

Spearheaded by Hernandez, Thursday's contest served as Penn State Harrisburg's Alzheimer's Awareness match. Players, coaches, and fans wore purple to support the cause of raising awareness of the disease that affects six million Americans per year. 

 

WHO'S NEXT? 

The Lions are back home on Saturday, Oct. 14 as they host United East foe Penn College at 1 p.m.
