MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - After falling behind in the early going, Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team blazed the comeback trail and defeated Marywood 3-1 by set scores of 21-25, 25-18, 25-16, and 25-16 at the Capital Union Building on Thursday night, Sept. 21.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (6-5) dropped the opening set of Thursday's match but stormed back to win three straight and claim the victory over Marywood (3-10) in non-conference action.

The opening set proved tight and despite falling behind by as many as six points midway through the game, the Lions fought back to pull even at 19-19 when Tiniira Tubo and Camryn Wettstone turned away a Pace attack with a block assist. The visitors responded, however, and finished things with a 6-2 run to take the early advantage.

The Pacers got off to another strong start in the second set and led by as much as 15-7 before service runs by Tori Henderson and Tubo turned the tide and saw the home team take an 18-16 lead. Holding a slim one-point advantage in the closing moments, the Lions reeled off six of the last seven points to draw even overall.

Set three was close early on but Penn State Harrisburg created some separation midway through and scored six points in a row during a Tubo service run. A Hannah DeGregory kill off a Katie Richardson assist pushed the lead to 19-12 and Henderson recorded two kills in the final four points, including the set clincher off another feed from Richardson.

The final set saw the Lions get off to a 10-6 start before grabbing a 13-6 lead following a Marywood service error. After the Pacers cut the deficit to three, Penn State Harrisburg responded with an 8-2 spurt to end the set and the match, punctuated by a Wettstone kill off a Richardson pass.
