CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball team began their 2023 season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Wilson on Friday night, Sept. 1.

First year Camryn Wettstone led the way for the Lions (1-0) on offense, while Katie Richardson was strong from her setter position. Richardson was also the team's leader in digs and Madison Balmos and Kate Bukowski helped lead the way defensively.

In the opening set, the Blue & White maintained an early lead and allowed the Phoenix just nine points. Emmaline Stevens and Tiniira Tubo were vital during the first match as they served for more than half of the team's points. Tubo continued to impress in the serving position in the second set, with her two service aces helping to expand Penn State Harrisburg's lead to 18-10 by the end of her rotation. The Lions closed out the second game with a 5-0 run that included three kills from Wettstone. The final set of the night was the most competitive thanks to a late run by Wilson that brought the home team to within four. The match concluded with an attack error by the Phoenix followed by a timely kill from Stevens.
