Volleyball Honored With USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) and United States Marine Corp (USMC) have honored Penn State Harrisburg with the USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award for the group's stellar performance in the classroom during the 2019-20 campaign.

The AVCA's most-recent academic accolade is Penn State Harrisburg's third in a row and sixth all-time in program history.

Penn State Harrisburg is one of a record 1,313 programs honored by the organization this season. The award, initiated during the 1992-93 academic campaign, recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball programs that display academic excellence during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA on a 4.00 scale.

Earlier this month, the Lions saw 10 players (77 percent of the team's roster) in Cheyanna Buckingham, Corrinne Cook, Jewel Crumbley, Brittany Ebaugh, Megan Hamm, Alexis Imler, Olivia Koicuba, Katie Kreider, Anna Ruff, and Alyssa Snyder named North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Scholar-Athletes for earning GPAs of 3.4 or higher for the academic year.
