MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – With their regular seasons now complete, Penn State Harrisburg's women's volleyball and women's soccer teams will continue competition in this week's North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournaments.
Thanks to a four-set victory at Lancaster Bible on Saturday afternoon, women's volleyball earned the No. 2 seed and secured a first-round bye in the upcoming postseason tournament. Top-seeded Morrisville State clinched the league's regular season championship and will play host to the semifinal and championship rounds.
Joining the Lions (15-13, 8-3 NEAC) and Mustangs (21-6, 11-0 NEAC) in the tourney will be No. 3 Penn State Abington (16-15, 8-3 NEAC), No. 4 Lancaster Bible (16-15, 7-4 NEAC), No. 5 Penn State Berks (15-14, 7-4 NEAC) and No. 6 Gallaudet (11-23, 7-4 NEAC).
First-round action begins on Tuesday evening, Nov. 5, and includes Abington hosting Gallaudet and LBC playing host to Berks. Penn State Harrisburg gets the winner of the Penn State Abington/Gallaudet matchup on Saturday afternoon, Nov. 9 in one of two semifinal contests. The championship match is set for Sunday, Nov. 10.
With a 5-2 win over SUNY Poly on Friday afternoon, Nov. 1, women' soccer (9-9-1, 7-2-1 NEAC) wrapped up the No. 3 seed in the league's postseason tournament and earned a home playoff game in the process. Penn State Berks (13-6, 11-0 NEAC) finished the fall undefeated in NEAC play, clinching the regular season title and top seed.
Both sets of Lions will be joined by No. 2 Keuka (13-4, 10-1 NEAC), No. 4 Penn College (9-8-1, 8-3 NEAC), No. 5 SUNY Poly (7-8-1, 6-5 NEAC) and No. 6 Lancaster Bible (9-9, 5-6 NEAC).
Penn State Harrisburg will host LBC for first-round action at Nittany Soccer Field at 2 p.m. on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 5. The other first-round matchup sees Penn College hosting Poly. The victors of Tuesday's outings will join Berks and Keuka as final four participants on the weekend. The semifinals will be contested on Saturday, Nov. 9, with the championship game held the following day.
