Cold Shooting Costs Women's Basketball at Lebanon Valley

ANNVILLE, Pa. - An off shooting night proved too much for Penn State Harrisburg's women's basketball team to overcome in a 70-30 setback to Lebanon Valley in the Rinso Marquette Championship Game on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 14.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Penn State Harrisburg (2-1) suffered its first loss of the young season on Sunday afternoon, with the combination of cold shooting and a strong effort by the hosts from Lebanon Valley (3-1) proving the catalyst for the team's lone setback of the season thus far. Kendis Butler and Toni Amato led the way with eight points apiece.

With 15 seconds left in the opening quarter, Amato knocked down a free throw that cut an early narrow deficit to 13-11. From there, the Lions went ice cold and went 10:59 of game time without scoring a point until Butler drove hard into the paint for a layup at the 9:16 mark of the third quarter. During that span, the visitors were outscored by 22 points - a hole the Blue & White were unable to climb out of the rest of the way.

NOTABLES

- The uncharacteristically col shooting night saw the Lions convert eight field goals and just three buckets from 3-point territory.

- Lebanon Valley shot 45.3 percent from the field (29-of-64).

- The Flying Dutchmen finished with a 42-18 advantage on the glass.

- Kendis Butler led the way with eight points, three rebounds, an assist, and a steal.

- Toni Amato netted eight points off the bench.

- Jayla Galbreath finished with six points, two boards, and an assist.

- Alli Walton had four points and five rebounds off the bench.

- Anna Mahan had four rebounds, a block, and an assist.

- Galbreath and Mahan were named to the Rinso Marquette All-Tournament Team for their efforts.

- Kate Fitzpatrick netted a game-high 14 points for the Flying Dutchmen.

WHO'S NEXT?

The Lions look to bounce back when they host Wilson at the Capital Union Building on Tuesday night, Nov. 16. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m.
