How It Happened

Penn State Harrisburg could not hold off Lebanon Valley's second half rally, falling for the first time this season by a score of 78-67 at LVC's Sorrentino Gymnasium on Tuesday night, Nov. 20. Laurel Amey led the Lions with 17 points and nine rebounds. Madison Hemler posted her second straight double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.

After some early turnovers put the Lions in a hole, the Lions' Shanique Mattis hit a three and scored in transition to pull within a point. Hemler would then battle inside for four offensive rebounds and six points. Despite her efforts, Harrisburg trailed 16-11 heading into the second quarter.

The second quarter belonged Briana Davis, who knocked down her first three 3-point attempts. Mattis would also connect from deep to give the Lions their first lead at 20-18. The Blue & White would hold the advantage, leading 32-28 at the break.

The Lions continued to keep pace with the Flying Dutchmen in the second half thanks to Laurel Amey. The sophomore would score all 17 of her points in the second half but the Dutchmen would use an eight-point and five-point run in the fourth quarter to pull away en route to the victory.

- Laurel Amey came up one rebound short of a double-double with 17 points and 9 rebounds

- Briana Davis exploded from the 3-point line the second quarter, knocking down three of four shots

- The Lions won the battle on the glass 47-43

- Madison Hemler recorded her second consecutive double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds

- The Lions knocked down nine 3-pointers as a team

- Lebanon Valley's Morgan Bamberger led all scorers with 25 points

Who's Next?

The Lions return home to take part in the first Penn State Harrisburg Pride Spirit Honor Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 24 at 4 p.m. They will face Notre Dame (Md.) in the opening game, while Mary Baldwin will face York (N.Y.) at 6 p.m.
