Penn State Harrisburg Falls Short to Frostburg State

Middletown, Pa.- The Penn State Harrisburg women's basketball team dropped their third conference win at home on Wednesday February 1st against the visiting Frostburg State Bobcats. The visitors came out strong in the first quarter to secure an early lead before pulling ahead in the final quarter to beat Harrisburg 66-51.

Game Highlights

-Frostburg State came out strong in the first quarter, holding the Lion's to only 11 points while finishing 22 of their own. In the second quarter the visitors led 29-11 before Kaitlyn Carmo and Shanique Mattis worked together to get the Lion's back on the board with 5 straight points of their own

-Penn State Harrisburg finished out the second quarter with a 9-3 run to cut Frostburg's lead to 12 before the half. Madison Hemler sank her first three pointer of the season as four Lady Lion's combined for four straight buckets

-The Lion's dominated the third quarter offensively while also playing strong defense as Frostburg was only able to score 8 points in the third quarter. Precious Shirk and Shanique Mattis each sank a three pointer with under three to go in the third to trail Frostburg by only 8 points heading into the final quarter. Frostburg cruised to their seventh conference win of the year in the fourth quarter by outscoring Harrisburg 19-12 to finish the match 66-51 over the Blue and White

-Jada Pettis led for the Blue and White with 11 points and 7 rebounds. Shanique Mattis was close behind with 10 points while teammate Kaitlyn Carmo added 7 rebounds of her own and 4 points
