Middletown Pa. – The Blue and White started today's game with the very recent memory of losing to the Wilson Phoenix 77-75. This was a big upset for the Lions and they wanted to redeem themselves in Saturday's game against Penn State Abington. Harrisburg started and finished strong on their way to a 71-62 point win over the visiting Lions.
Harrisburg started the game by celebrating the accomplishments of their two Seniors Amanda Moyer(Carlisle, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) and Steph Yetter (Thompsontown, Pa. / East Juniata)
Moyer will finish her career with the best shooting percentage of any Lady Lion, while Yetter takes the honor of being the all-time leading scorer, recently hitting the 1000 point mark.
After the opening presentations were over, our Lady Lions went straight into game mode and started things off with a 5-0 run that included a Yetter three pointer. Abington responded and were within 1 point with 10:10 to go in the half. That's when Harrisburg took control of the game going on a 16-2 run which gave the home side their biggest lead of the night 35-20. Abington worked the lead down some and by the halftime were down ten, 38-28.

The second half started like many of Harrisburg's recent games as they allowed a double digit lead to slip some. Unlike some of the recent losses that have occurred when Harrisburg allowed teams to creep back into the game, today anytime Abington got within reach they answered with defense and buckets to hold off any significant runs.
By the midpoint of the second half Harrisburg was holding on to an 8 point lead. Over the next five minutes, they continued to match anything Abington threw at them and with 5:00 to play were up by 10. Abington made a few shots toward the end, but once they fouled out their second player, they were left with only four players to finish the final two minutes. Harrisburg closed the game out and took the 71-62 win.
The two big scorers of the day were Mercedes Copeland (Reading, Pa. / Reading) and Miranda Zeanchock (Carrolltown, Pa. / Cambria Heights). Copeland finished with 19 points, while Zeanchock scored 17. Moyer had another double-double with 14 points and rebounds.
Harrisburg played strong today and will hopefully take the win and momentum into their post season home game Tuesday against the St. Elizabeth Eagles. The Lady Lions split the regular season series against the Eagles with each team winning their home contest. Hopefully the trend will continue and our Lady Lions will earn themselves a place in the NEAC conference final four next weekend.
