Dixon's Quadruple-Double Makes NCAA History

MIDDLETOWN, Pa- On Saturday, Dec. 3, Penn State Harrisburg's Dorothea Dixon (Middletown, PA/Middletown) became just the ninth women's basketball player in NCAA history across all divisions to record an ultra-rare quadruple-double.  The senior guard had the game of her life in the Lions' 91-42 blowout victory over Penn State Berks and totaled 11 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists and ten steals.

The Middletown native joined an elite group of NCAA student-athletes thanks to her outstanding effort in front of a hometown crowd at Penn State Harrisburg's Capital Union Building over the weekend.  Dixon's accomplishment is the first in school history and the first quadruple-double by a women's player in any of the NCAA's three divisions since 2009.

"It felt amazing to be able to make history but I really couldn't have done it without the help of my coaches and teammates pushing me every day to be better," she said.  "Without them, I wouldn't even have had the opportunity so I'm thankful for them."

When asked if she had any clue during the game as to how close she was to achieving the rare feat, Dixon said it was her coaching staff and teammates that were most aware of what was unfolding on the court.

"I don't really pay attention to stats," she said.  "I just go out and try to play my hardest every game.  But towards the end of the game, my teammates and coaches told me I was close to getting one and that they felt I deserved to get it because of how hard I worked in the game."

Head Coach Ross Patrick said on Saturday that he'd never been around anything like Dixon's quadruple-double.  It turns out very few others have ever been around anything like it either.

"I think it's just amazing," he said.  "Our entire team worked really hard on both sides of the ball and created opportunities which led to a statistically significant night for one player in particular in Dea.  She is one of our team leaders and anyone who has seen her play will immediately recognize that she leads by example, specifically through her relentless effort.  She possesses a variety of skill sets on the court and on this particular night, they all came together and culminated in an astounding result."
