Lions Shine In Pink Zone Game

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions hosted a Pink Zone game on Saturday, February 19 to raise money for the Feel Your Boobies foundation, a Middletown based organization whose mission to encourage young women to engage in unconventional methods of detecting breast cancer. The Lady Lions raised money for a great cause and nabbed their 16th NEAC victory of the season beating visitng Wells College, 84-37.

After a deflating loss to Penn State Berks on Wednesday, the Lady Lions rebounded and showed their dominating potential against the Wells College Express.

The Express scored the first points of the game and were able to keep the game close for the first five minutes but the Lady Lions went on a 28-3 run to enter half time with the 46-16 advantage. Monet Cunnigham (Highspire, PA/Bishop McDevitt) lit up the court in the first half with 15 points, shooting 7-of-10 from the floor. Cunningham finished with a game-high 18 points.

The Lady Lions continued their dominance through the second half shooting 66.7% from the 3-point line. Although their offensive effort was impressive, the Lady Lion defense was a large contributor to Saturday's win. The Lady Lions held Wells Express stand-out Ashley Roser to just 9 points and 13 rebounds. Roser averages 22.1 points and 15 rebounds for the season.  

Penn State Harrisburg showed their depth as their bench accounted for 42 of the Lady Lions' points. Nikki Zangari (Etters, PA/Red Land) notched 15 points and 5 rebounds while Miranda Zeanchock (Carroltown, PA/Cambira) and Amanda Moyer (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) each contributed 11 points.

The Lady Lions host their final home contest tomorrow, Sunday, February 20 at 12:00PM against Keuka College. The Lady Lions will look to upset the Storm who are currently at the top of NEAC conference standings.
