NEAC Women's Basketball Tournament Preview

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions will be travelling to Gallaudet University to participate in the 2011 NEAC Women's Basketball Championship Tournament this weekend. The Lady Lions will face SUNY Cobleskill on Friday, February 25, 2011 at 3:00PM.

During the regular season, the Lady Lions split meetings with SUNY Cobleskill, losing the first 60-72 and winning the second, 60-45. In their first meeting the Lady Lions found themselves with an early deficit that they were never able to overcome. The Fighting Tigers posted their best shooting effort of the season to date against the Lady Lions, shooting 47.8% from the floor and 78.1% from the charity stripe. The Lady Lions were only able to convert on 24-of-64 shots.

Penn State Harrisburg hosted the Fighting Tigers during a five-game win streak for the second meeting of the season. The Lady Lions took advantage of the Tigers small roster and used a vicious full-court press to tire out the visiting conference foe. The Lady Lions grabbed an early lead in the first half and would never relinquish to win, 60-45.

Last season, the Lady Lions beat Penn State Abington 68-55 to move on to the NEAC Quarterfinals where they fell to reigning NEAC Champion Keuka College 60-74. As full NCAA members, if the Lady Lions win the 2011 NEAC Championship they will automatically qualify for the NCAA tournament for the first time in school history.
