Mustangs Hand Lady Lions Second Straight Heartbreaking Loss

MORRISVILLE, NY - The Penn State Harrisburg women´s basketball team were unable to stop a 15-4 Mustang run late in Sunday´s match-up against Morrisville State College, in which, the hosting team grabbed the final lead with :09 seconds remaining en route to the 55-54 victory.

With a 27-18 halftime lead, the Lady Lions were able to increase their lead to as much as 12 with 13:18 remaining and held the lead at the 6:35 mark, 50-40. But it was a Thelma Picardo layup assisted by Tekesha Hanson with :09 seconds remaining to capped off the Morrisville State comeback.

Stephanie Yetter (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata) led Harrisburg with 19 points, while teammate Dorothea Dixon (Middletown, PA/Middletown) tallied 12 points, captured 12 boards and stole five in the loss. Nicole Zangari (Etters, PA/Red Land) added seven points, 10 boards and four steals in the Lions efforts.

Hanson led all scorers with a double-double performance, netting 23 points and grabbing 13 rebounds while stealing five and blocking three shots. Picardo added 13 points, five boards and four steals as Irena Longworth netted seven points and had a team high 17 rebounds.

The Lady Lions will host visiting Arcadia University Wednesday, January 6th at the Capital Union Building. Tip-off is scheduled at 7:00 P.M.
