Lady Lions Cruise by Wilson College

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg women´s basketball team cruised by the visiting Phoenix of Wilson College Wednesday, December 9th at the Capital Union Building, 68-33.

 

Within the first five minutes of play, the Lady Lions´ defense forced nine turnovers, producing an 11-3 lead with 14:43 remaining in the first half. The blue and white lead would inflate to 20 before the halftime capped off by a steal by Amaris Gardner (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) which lead to a basket by teammate Caitlyn Ruggiero(Bangor, PA/Bangor) with time expiring.

In the second half, Penn State Harrisburg would increase their lead to as much as 37 with 4:40 remaining off a Brittany Adams (Dillsburg, PA/Northern) layup, to ensure the blue and white´s second straight win.

Ruggiero led all scorers with 17, going 8-for-13 from the field with six rebounds and four steals. Adams finished with a double-double, 15 points and 11 rebounds, going 7-for-12 from the field, collecting five steals in 28 minutes of play. Dorothea Dixon (Middletown, PA/Middletown) was able to collect a double-double as well with 14 points and 12 rebounds. Dixon also tailed seven steals and five assists.

Penn State Harrisburg will travel to Abington, Pennsylvania this Friday, December 11th to face off against NEAC newcomers Penn State Abington. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 P.M.
