17-0 Run Deflates Lady Lions

MIDDLETOWN, PA - A 17-0 run to open up the second half proved to be enough for the visiting Lions of Penn State Berks (13-9) in a 67-46 win over Penn State Harrisburg (8-14) Wednesday, February 17th at the Capital Union Building.

In the first half the Lady Lions controlled the tempo, leading by seven with 6:17 remaining. Penn State Berks would bounce back with a 13-6 run to end the half tying the game at 25 apiece.

The second half featured a heavy dose of Berks offense, with the Lions going on a 17-0 run in the first seven minutes of play with Harrisburg shooting 0-for-9 in that span. The blue and white would pull within eight with 7:48 remaining, but Berks would close out the game on a 19-6 run to ensure the victory.

Dorothea Dixon (Middletown, PA/Middletown) led the blue and white with 16 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Amaris Gardner (Virginia Beach, VA/Bayside) notched a season-high 14 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Stephanie Yetter (Thompsontown, PA/East Juniata), Nicola Zangari (Etters, PA/Red Land) and Brittany Adams (Dillsburg, PA/Northern) each reached double digits rebounds in the losing effort.

Following a career-high 35 point performance versus College of St. Elizabeth, Courtney Bailey (Harrisburg, PA/Harrisburg) answers with a double-double performance of 28 points, 20 rebounds adding four steals. Steph Binder tailed 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Jasmine Harris-Zane contributed 11 points.

Penn State Harrisburg will host the 15-7 Keuka College Storm, Saturday, February 20th at the Capital Union Building. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 P.M.
