Lady Lions Bounce Back

MIDDLETOWN, PA - The Penn State Harrisburg women´s basketball squad bounced back from their first loss of the season with a 52-39 victory against Wilson College. This win is the Lady Lions´ fourth and improves the blue and white to 4-1 on the season with the Phoenix falling to 0-4.

The Lady Lions came out on fire with a 14-0 run in the first 5:52 of the first half. The blue and white continued to punish the visiting Phoenix on defense not allowing them to reach double digits until 4:40 left in the first half. The Lady Lions´ lead swelled to as much as 18 in the first half when senior Sandra Adames (Pontiac Northern/Pontiac, MI) hit two free throws with 6:43 left in play. With 5:05 to go in the half Wilson College guard, Amanda Price, led her Phoenix to a 7-3 run to bring them within 13 at halftime.

Penn State Harrisburg continued to build their lead as they reached the 23 point margin with just over 5 minutes left. Wilson College forward, Alaina Hofer, and Price teamed up to cut into the Lady Lions´ advantage getting off 12 points before the blue and white captured the victory.

The Lady Lions were led by Adames as she poured in 21 points in just 28 minutes of action. She was 9-for-12 from the field including 3-for-4 from the charity stripe. Adames also pulled in eleven rebounds and blocked three Phoenix shots. Senior Krystal Miranda (Bound Brook/S. Bound Brook, NJ) tallied 13 points with four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Sophomore Elizabeth Bard (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown, PA)chipped in with seven points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals.

The Phoenix was led by Price, who scored 19 points off of 9-for-17 shooting as well as dishing off four assists. Hofer added twelve points, eleven rebounds, and two assists to the Phoenix cause. The blue and white return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host Keuka. Tip time at Capital Union Building is set for 1:00 P.M.
