MIDDLETOWN, PA - For four years the Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions have been waiting to be called champions. At 4:00 pm on November 22nd the blue and white were crowd champions of the Holiday Inn Harrisburg East tip-off tournament. Head coach Ross Patrick could not have started his first season any better with his Lady Lions going 3-0 for the first time in school history.

With Polytechnic University beating Penn College, 57-43, in the first matchup, Penn State Harrisburg took on the Chargers of Lancaster Bible College. Coming off her excellent performance against Penn State Mont Alto,Sandra Adames (Pontiac Northern/Pontiac, MI) continue her hot shooting against the Chargers going 12 for 15 from the field, scoring 26 points, grabbing 14 rebounds, with 3 steals and blocking 4 shots in 31 minutes, helping the Lady Lions cruise to victory, 55-39.

In the first half of the championship game, Polytechnic University and Penn State Harrisburg went back and forth with great defense by both teams. With the halftime score 21-18, the blue and white were looking to step up their offensive efforts and take home the championship. Once again Adames dominated in the second half with 16 points and 9 rebounds with two blocks and a steal. Krystal Miranda (Bound Brook/S. Bound Brook, NJ), Amaris Gardner (Bayside/Virginia Beach, VA) and Elizabeth Bard (Elizabethtown/Elizabethtown, PA)combined for 29 points, 33 rebounds, 8 assists and 9 steals towards the school´s first tournament championship.

Lacee Port (Bellefonte/Bellefonte, PA) was honored as the All-Tournament player for Penn State Harrisburg with 11 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in her tournament performance. Adames was honored as the tournament´s MVP with shooting 59 percent from the field (16-27), 75 percent (12-16) for the free throw line, 34 points, 30 rebounds, 5 steals and 9 blocks in her tournament performance.

The Lady Lions travel to Centenary College to take on the Cyclones on Tuesday, November 25th.
