Lady Lions Show No Quit in Loss to Cazenovia

February 3, 2008

Middletown, PA — The Cazenovia Wildcats used a strong first half effort to defeat a feisty Penn State Harrisburg Lady Lions team in a North Eastern Athletic Conference game at the Capital Union Building Saturday afternoon. The 83-54 final score didn't show how close the second half was between these two conference rivals. The Blue and White drop now to 1-10 in the NEAC and are 2-16 overall. The Cazenovia Wildcats are now 4-5 in the NEAC and 7-10 overall.

Despite finding themselves down 46-18 at the half, the Lady Lions never gave up and played nearly even with Cazenovia in the second half. With a late flurry of steals by Krystal Miranda (South Bound Brook, NJ/Bound Book) and Sandra Adames (Pontiac, MI/Pontiac Northern) and lay-ups by Erin Davis (Cranston, RI/Cranston West) they saw the second half score read 37-36 in favor of Cazenovia. Adames also made several impressive lay-ups with very good inside moves during this strong second half performance. Penn State Harrisburg also had an impressive performance on the glass out rebounding the Wildcats 42-30.

Cazenovia shot very well for the game, shooting at nearly a 50% clip, and hitting five three pointers. They also defended well getting 22 steals.

The Lady Lions were led by Adames' 18 points and 11 rebounds. Miranda came away with 17 points and 5 steals. Cazenovia had 4 ladies who scored in double figures and were led by Colleen Clarke, who scored 19 points.

The next home game for the Lady Lions will be tomorrow against Keuka College at 1 pm.
