Venkatesh Earns Conference Player of the Week Honors

LATHAM, N.Y. - Thanks to his stellar effort in three recent victories, Penn State Harrisburg's Sachin Venkatesh has been named the United East Men's Tennis Player of the Week.

In a 9-0 win over conference foe Penn College on Tuesday afternoon, the senior teamed with Caleb Fockens to earn an 8-4 victory in the No. 1 doubles contest before claiming a 6-4, 6-2 decision in the No. 2 singles matchup. The York, Pa. native followed it up with two more wins in a 5-1 non-conference victory over Messiah on Friday, teaming again with Fockens to secure a hard-fought 8-6 win in the top doubles match before going over in the No. 2 solo outing 6-4, 6-3. Venkatesh finished off the week with a 6-3, 6-4 solo victory in the second singles slot after he and Fockens picked up an 8-3 win in the No. 1 doubles contest during a 9-0 sweep of United East foe Penn State Abington on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions, winner of five in a row, will try to keep rolling when they travel south to face conference opponent St. Mary's (Md.) on Tuesday afternoon.
