MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – The Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team's 2011-2012 season came to an end in the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship Tournament when the Lions fell to Grove City 5-0 on Friday, May 11.  After earning the first NCAA berth in program history, the blue and white wrapped up its spring at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD.

The Wolverines swept doubles' play.  Andrew Deckert and Peter Riley bested the team of Josh Cartmill (Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) and Evgeny Matigullin (New Bloomfield, PA/Susquenita) 8-2 while Caleb Fuller and Anthony Rosselli took down the Lions' pair of Vishnu Gopalakrishnan (Ashburn, VA/Briar Woods) and Vinnie Lepore (Chepachet, RI/Ponaganset) 8-1 in the number two slot.  Penn State Harrisburg's number three team of Tyler Loy (Annville, PA/Annville-Cleona) and Zachry Warriner (Montrose, PA/Montrose) dropped an 8-3 decision to Steve Harrison and Scott Yanak.

In singles competition, Grove City's number four player in Yanack topped Warriner 6-1, 6-0 and Rosselli finished off the match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lepore.  The rest of the individual matches remained unfinished and the Wolverines advanced to the NCAA's second round.

Penn State Harrisburg finished its most recent season 12-7 overall and 4-0 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.  All six men who took part in the team's first round match with Grove City earned all-conference honors while Cartmill was named Player of the Year.  All are eligible to return and try to lead the blue and white to its third straight conference crown next season.
