Penn State Harrisburg Wins NAC Championship

LATHAM, NY - On Saturday, May 7, 2011 the Penn State Harrisburg men's tennis team made history, for the second week in a row, by winning its first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship.  The Nittany Lions captured the crown by defeating, NAC East Divisional Champion, Castleton State College in the NAC Championship match 7-2.

John Dixon (Lemoyne, PA/Cedar Cliff) received the tournament MVP honor helping his team to the Championship with both an individual (6-0, 6-0) and doubles (8-5) win. Nate Tulchinsky (Hershey, PA/ Hershey) won his singles match by a score of (2-6, 6-3, 7-6) Josh Cartmill(Carlisle, PA/Cumberland Valley) was victorious in his singles match by a score of (6-4, 6-2) Evgeny Matigullin (New Bloomfield, PA/Susquenita) scored his singles point with a (5-7, 6-4, 10-2) result.  Vincent Lepore III (Chepachet, RI/Ponaganset) contributed to the win with a (6-4, 6-1) final.  Tyler Bixler (Camp Hill, PA/Cumberland Valley) teamed with Lepore won their doubles match (8-5).

Beginning with the 2010 season, North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) members Keuka, Penn State Abington, Penn State Berks, Penn State Harrisburg and SUNY Cobleskill began play as associate members of the North Atlantic Conference in a West Division.  Each division holds a championship and the two divisional champions will meet to determine the conference champion.
