Six Men's Soccer Players Earn All-Conference Honors

LATHAM, N.Y. - Six Penn State Harrisburg men's soccer players have earned United East Volt Division All-Conference recognition for their strong play this season.

 

Daniel Fombu, Jaden Longdon, and Marc Rodgers were named to the United East Volt Division All-Conference First Team, while Alex Afata, Hossam Aly, and Kobe Harris secured all-conference second-team accolades. 

 

Fombu finished as the team's leading scorer this fall, racking up seven goals, including a game-winning marker in a victory over NYU in September. The junior added one assist to finish with 16 total points on the year. Earlier this season, the forward moved into third place on the program's all-time scoring list with 24 career goals and he currently ranks third all-time with 56 career points.

 

Longdon turned in a promising first season at Penn State Harrisburg. The junior forward recorded 11 total points thanks to four goals and three assists. He had four games in which he scored a marker and added a helper this fall.

 

Rodgers completed his impressive career with another strong campaign this fall. The team captain held a share of the team lead with three assists and added four goals to record 11 total points on the year. The midfielder also helped strengthen the back end, holding opposing team to 1.15 goals per contest. 

 

Afata anchored a defensive unit that recorded seven shutouts on the year and surrendered just 1.15 goals per game. In addition to his defensive prowess, the junior added six total points thanks to a pair of goals and two assists.  

 

Aly appeared in 11 games in goal with nine starts during his first season with Penn State Harrisburg. The graduate student went 3-3-3 in net with one individual shutout and made 32 saves with a 1.55 goals allowed average and a .711 save percentage. 

 

Harris battled through an early season injury and came on strong by the midway point, finishing with 11 total points on four goals and three assists. The forward netted the game-winning marker in a win over Washington & Jefferson and added a goal against No. 1 Messiah in early October.
